Hutton Vale, situated in the Eden Valley hills of the Barossa , has been part of the Angas family’s farm business since 1843. It was not until 1912 that they planted vines, the first being Shiraz at Mt Edelstone now run by the Henschke’s.

Small parcels of fruit are selected from favorite pockets in our 77 acres of vineyard for our own wines with a tiny total production of less than thousand cases. This vineyard was planted in the 1960’s with cuttings taken from the Mt Edelstone vineyard and includes other varieties of, Riesling, Grenache and a few Mataro vines. The 1990’s saw further plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon. All the vines are dry grown, and with the challenging conditions a biodynamic approach has been adopted to help natural health of the vine and soil.

The Barossa is well known for quality and the Eden Valley hills of the Barossa, is often referred to as “God’s Garden”. These vines with their deep root systems have continued to grow outstanding fruit even in challenging seasons.
